paradiso

cafe paradiso

The cafe is a peaceable kingdom. There is no enmity here. We dream of a world before it was divided, and serve the food of many nations. But to cook that food well, to understand its sublimity, it is necessary to embody it.

purple

purple

Purple -- is fashionable twice --
This season of the year,
And when a soul perceives itself
To be an Emperor.

As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

tiles

reflected light

The light of poetry is
not only a direct but also
a reflected light,
that,
while it shows us the object,
throws a sparkling radiance on all around it.

upwards

arising

We never know how high we are
Till we are asked to rise
And then if we are true to plan
Our statures touch the skies --

The Heroism we recite
Would be a normal thing
Did not ourselves the Cubits warp
For fear to be a King
