for next week: The Parliament of Fowls
1. Could each subgroup please prepare the first paragraph of an essay that would answer the following examination question:
‘The poem never resolves the double possibility of a sexuality either regenerative or imprisoning’ (James Simpson). How far would you agree with this analysis of The Parlement of Foulys?
2. Please read closely the following passages and come to the seminar with a detailed analysis of the content of each, and its place within the development and structure of the poem. I would like each subgroup to be prepared to speak for ten minutes each about this; and I would like every member of the group to say something. No reading out from a script: informal and relaxed, please.
